Welcome
I'm delighted that you are considering undertaking a Melbourne Law Masters (MLM) degree.
My first contact with the Law School was as a visiting lecturer teaching in the MLM program. It was in no small measure the excellence of the MLM classroom experience - in particular, the dynamism and diversity of the students - that convinced me that I wanted to join the Law School's staff.
As an MLM student, you'll be a part of an historically important institution, as Melbourne was the first faculty to teach law in Australia. It is also an extraordinarily successful faculty. Generally regarded as Australia's leading law school, Melbourne is now positioned to take its place as one of the leading law schools in the world.
Of particular significance, Melbourne offers Australia's most globalised program of legal education, a critical factor in opening doors for our students to take up careers of global reach. Our curriculum is highly regarded for its cutting-edge, intellectually challenging character, drawing on the teaching strengths of not only our top-ranked research staff but equally on an unparalleled group of distinguished international experts who join us as instructors each year.
I look forward to welcoming you to the Law School in 2009.
