International visiting lecturers
We are proud to invite a number of international visiting lecturers to teach into the Melbourne Law Masters each year, further enriching your study experience. In 2009, over 30 international faculty will be teaching in the program, including academics from institutions such as the University of Oxford, New York University and the University of Cambridge. International experts from the United Nations, practitioners in international law firms and representatives from major international organisations will also be teaching in 2009.
Intensive teaching
Around 90 percent of our subjects are taught on an intensive basis over one week of study. We timetable our teaching in this way to make it easier for busy professionals as well as interstate and even international visitors to take part in our courses. The intensive mode also encourages participants to truly immerse themselves in the subject content and creates a dynamic learning environment.
Excellent facilities
Melbourne Law School is an impressive facility with state-of-the-art research resources and high-tech features. An entire floor of the Law School is dedicated to graduate teaching and features modern IT facilities, a student lounge and a professional environment in which to learn.
Superb law library
Spread over three levels, the Melbourne Law Library has one of the best law collections in Australia. Students can make full use of online access to cases, legislation, journals and other secondary information sources. The Alan Katz Room is available for graduate student use only, and 100 computers are available for students to use.
Single subjects
All subjects in the Melbourne Law Masters program are available on a single subject enrolment basis, either with or without assessment. Single subjects are a great way to meet Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements. They also provide the chance to enhance your knowledge in a specific legal area and get a feel for graduate study.
Close to Melbourne city
Melbourne Law School is located on the city fringe, an easy 15-minute walk from the centre of the city or a short five-minute tram ride. Melbourne is Australia’s most cosmopolitan city and a great place to live and study.
Small class sizes
By limiting class sizes to 25 to 30 students, we ensure that your learning experience is as positive as possible. Subjects are taught in a seminar style to encourage the active involvement of all students and facilitate networking between students and lecturers.
High-level student support
Our specialised graduate services are tailored to support you academically and personally, giving you the confidence and capacity to thrive. Whatever program you choose, you will find a collegial and supportive campus culture waiting for you, which will help you to achieve your potential and shape your future.
